Bello El-Rufai Reacts to Rift Between Father and Governor
Muhammad Bello El-Rufai, the representative for Kaduna North in the House of Representatives and son of former Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has spoken out on the ongoing conflict between his father and the current Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.
In a recent interview with BBC Hausa Service, Bello expressed his disappointment over the situation, describing it as unpleasant for him personally. He emphasized that while his father, Nasir El-Rufai, remains his top role model, and Senator Uba Sani is his boss, reconciling the two is not his responsibility. Bello made it clear that his focus is to provide quality representation for the people of Kaduna North, and not to intervene in political disagreements between his father and the governor.
Bello also acknowledged the strange nature of the situation, comparing it to the dramatic on-screen conflict between Bollywood legends Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, stating that some individuals seemed to be enjoying the feud. He lamented the unpredictability of life, pointing out that friendships, like marriages, can break, but it doesn’t mean one should abandon them altogether.
Regarding the cause of the dispute, Bello stated that he was unaware of the root cause and had never heard any insults exchanged between the two leaders in his presence. He also emphasized that neither his father nor Governor Uba Sani had confided in him about the crisis, leaving him uncertain whether the tension was real or just a matter of speculation.
Despite the conflict, Bello remained hopeful for peace, saying that even if someone were his enemy, he would not wish for them to fight with another enemy of his. His statement reflects his desire for unity, and his belief that reconciliation between the two leaders would be ideal for the state.
Bello’s comments come as the feud between his father and the governor continues to make headlines in Kaduna State politics, with many closely watching how the situation develops.
