Bello Turji Terrorist Initiates Talks to Renounce Violence, Seeks Repentance
A key member of Bello Turji’s notorious bandit group has reportedly shown interest in abandoning his criminal activities and laying down his arms. This development comes in the wake of the ongoing Nigerian military offensive targeting bandit groups in the North-West, which has been pressuring some criminals to reconsider their actions.
The news was shared by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on his social media platform, X, revealing that the armed criminal reached out after a conversation with respected Islamic scholar, Malam Murtala Bello Asada. The bandit allegedly expressed a genuine intention to surrender and seek repentance.
Makama stated that Malam Murtala reminded the bandit of earlier opportunities for surrender, which were not seized due to the failure of criminals to drop their weapons. However, the scholar assured him that if the bandit’s resolve was sincere this time, proper steps could be taken to facilitate his reintegration into society.
Although the military continues to intensify its pursuit of bandits and terrorist networks, the security forces have made it clear that they are willing to accommodate those who are genuinely ready to renounce violence and embrace peace.
