“APC Chieftain Blames Igbos for South-East Security Crisis”
Joe Igbokwe, a prominent figure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has sparked controversy by blaming the worsening security situation in the South-East on the region’s own citizens.
In a bold Facebook post on Monday, Igbokwe dismissed the earlier belief that Fulani herdsmen were responsible for the violence plaguing the five states. He instead pointed the finger at the Igbo people themselves, suggesting that internal conflict, including kidnappings and killings, was causing the region’s deterioration.
He stated, “From Anambra to Enugu, from Enugu to Ebonyi, from Ebonyi to Abia, and from Abia to Imo, it’s no longer Fulani Herdsmen. It’s Igbo kidnapping Igbo, it’s Igbo killing Igbo. Igbo people are destroying their own land.”
Igbokwe has long been vocal about the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the violent incidents attributed to them. His recent statement comes on the heels of high-profile kidnappings and killings that have left the region in shock.
