Governor Eno Nominates 27 Commissioners for Confirmation in Akwa Ibom

On Tuesday, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State sent a list of 27 nominees to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for confirmation, including three former members of the House of Representatives: Mr. Aniekan Umana, Mr. Nsikak Ekong, and Henry Archibong.

In a letter dated 10th February, 2025, addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, Governor Eno urged the lawmakers to confirm the nominees. The message was read aloud by the Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs. Nsikak Abasi Orok, during the House’s plenary session.

The list of nominees includes individuals from various local governments, such as Uko Essien Udom (Etinan), Aniekan Umana (Abak), Princess Emem Ibanga (Nsit Atai), and Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong (Ikot Ekpene), among others. Some notable names on the list are Comrade Ini Emem Obong (Biono Ibom), Hon. Frank Archibong (Eket), and Dr. Anietie Udofia (Uyo), alongside many other distinguished nominees from across the state.

The motion to receive the Governor’s message was moved by the Chief Whip, Rt. Hon. Sir Effiong Johnson, and seconded by Hon. Lawrence Udoide of the INI State Constituency. Speaker Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong then assigned the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights, and Public Petitions, chaired by Hon. Anefiok Attah, to screen the nominees and present a report back to the House within one week.

The confirmation process for these nominees is now officially underway.
