Taraba APC Youth Group Criticizes Governor Kefas Over Expensive Foreign Travels
The Taraba State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Vanguard has urged Governor Agbu Kefas to reassess his frequent foreign trips and focus on initiatives that bring tangible benefits to the people of Taraba.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the group expressed concerns over the governor’s numerous foreign engagements, including trips to countries such as the United Kingdom, Finland, Germany, France, the United States, and India, where he recently participated in a ministerial panel. While the group acknowledged the importance of exploring investment opportunities, they highlighted that these trips have yet to translate into meaningful economic benefits for the state.
The APC Youth Vanguard raised alarms over the significant financial cost of these foreign travels, citing reports that the Taraba State Government spent over ₦6.5 billion on foreign engagements in the previous year alone. The group argued that such expenditures are a heavy burden on the state’s finances, especially when the outcomes of these trips remain unclear.
The statement emphasized that the funds used for these foreign travels could be better utilized in local development projects, such as improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and stimulating economic growth within the state.
“As advocates for youth and development in Taraba, we urge the governor to critically evaluate the effectiveness of these trips and focus on efforts that deliver real, measurable outcomes for the people,” the group said.
The APC Youth Vanguard reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that will uplift Taraba State and called for greater accountability in the state’s governance. The group urged Governor Kefas to redirect his focus toward initiatives that foster tangible local progress and meaningful investments in the state’s future.
