“PDP Forum Predicts Surge of Returning Politicians as Party Stays Strong”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Forum of Former Speakers (FOFSHA) has assured Nigerians that many politicians who left the party over the years will soon return. According to the forum, the PDP remains the most widely accepted, well-organized, and influential political force in the country, dedicated to addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
The statement was made on Friday following a meeting between the forum and the PDP minority leadership in the House of Representatives at the National Assembly in Abuja. Key attendees included the House Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, Minority Whip, Ali Isa J. C, Forum Chairman and 10th House of Representatives member, Inuwa Garba, and Secretary Williams Edor, along with others such as Bakitta Bello, Friday Itulah, Kwamoti Laori, and Ndanusa Hassan.
Hon. Inuwa Garba expressed concerns over some defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling them “illegal” due to constitutional breaches. He reassured the public that these defections wouldn’t be permanent, and a wave of politicians would soon return to the PDP. He stated, “Nigerians are now more informed and knowledgeable about what’s best for them and the nation. You’ll soon see defections back to PDP as many former members realize the party’s true value.”
Garba emphasized that the PDP was the training ground for many of Nigeria’s current leaders, saying, “Any credible politician today was once nurtured by the PDP. This party is the most widespread in Africa.”
While recognizing the challenges faced by the country, the forum urged PDP members to remain united and resolute. It also stressed the importance of maintaining faith in ongoing efforts to strengthen and unite the party.
The recent defections of Senator Ned Nwoko and House member Amos Magaji to the APC have sparked concerns that the opposition might struggle to challenge the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 elections. However, the PDP forum is optimistic about the party’s future and the eventual return of many of its former members.
