“Katsina State to Enforce Strict Movement Restriction for Peaceful Polls”
The Katsina State Police Command has announced a movement restriction in the state from 6 AM to 4 PM on the day of the Local Government elections, scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025. This measure aims to maintain security and ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process.
The restriction was outlined in a statement released on Thursday by the police’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq. According to the statement, the movement ban will be enforced to protect both the electorate and election officials, ensuring that voters can cast their ballots without disruption.
“In preparation for the local government election, which will take place on Saturday, there will be restrictions on the movement of individuals and vehicles between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM,” DSP Sadiq stated. “This step is crucial to maintaining law and order and to protect the safety of everyone involved in the election.”
Residents and stakeholders in the state have been urged to respect the movement restrictions in the interest of holding a peaceful and transparent election.
The police have reassured the public that sufficient security arrangements are in place to enforce the restrictions and safeguard the voters and election officials. Additionally, the police commissioner encouraged eligible voters to come out in large numbers, reminding them to engage in the voting process peacefully and responsibly.
