Boko Haram Faction Attacks ISWAP Camps

The attack described is attributed to a faction of Boko Haram, led by a commander named Bakoura. Boko Haram is a designated terrorist group that has been involved in a prolonged insurgency in Nigeria and neighboring countries, primarily focused on establishing an Islamist state and carrying out violent acts, including bombings, kidnappings, and killings.

Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a separate but related terrorist group, operates in the same region. It is also a designated terrorist organization, primarily aligned with the Islamic State (ISIS). The conflict between Boko Haram and ISWAP has led to a volatile and dangerous situation in the Lake Chad region.
