Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), has boldly declared that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will be decisively defeated in Kano before 1 p.m. on election day in 2027. Speaking at an empowerment program organized by Deputy Senate President Barau I. Jibrin in Kano on Sunday, Doguwa expressed unwavering confidence in the strength and unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, which he believes will lead the party to reclaim power.
“With the current unity in our party, by God’s grace, we will reclaim our mandate in Kano before 1 p.m. on election day in 2027. The NNPP will be defeated,” Doguwa confidently stated.
At the event, Barau Jibrin also shared insights into the empowerment initiative, which saw 1,037 motorcycles and 63 cars distributed to APC leaders at the ward and local levels. He emphasized that this move was designed to support party members and solidify the party’s presence at the grassroots level.
“We decided to start by empowering our party leaders who are integral to the fabric of society,” Jibrin explained. “Many of our leaders are well-to-do because they are farmers and hardworking individuals, and we want to further empower them so they can lead happier lives.”
Barau also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiatives, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said would provide students, including those at Bayero University, with easier access to education.
“The President has launched a number of programs for our benefit,” Barau said. “With NELFUND, students can now access education more easily. He’s also established a commission to focus on infrastructure improvements.”
Meanwhile, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje expressed his support for President Tinubu’s economic reforms, noting that they were already delivering tangible results.
“We must thank Mr. President for the reforms he’s initiated. We’re already seeing positive changes in Nigeria today—fuel prices are coming down, food prices are decreasing, and the Naira is appreciating. We assure you that Nigeria will continue to move forward,” Ganduje said.
As the APC strengthens its grassroots through these initiatives, it seems determined to retake control of Kano in 2027, with Doguwa’s declaration signaling a bold and confident approach toward the upcoming elections.
