Engr. Udengs Eradiri, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has urged party members in Bayelsa State to cease their attacks on Governor Douye Diri. He emphasized that the governor is already working closely with the APC-led federal government and should be supported for the ongoing alliance.
Speaking in Yenagoa on Sunday, Eradiri called on APC members to respect the political collaboration between Governor Diri and the federal government, noting that it has led to significant developmental strides for the state. He pointed to major infrastructure projects such as the Agge Road, Deep Sea Port, and the Nembe-Brass Road as clear evidence of the positive impact of this partnership.
“We have moved past the days of opposition politics. Bayelsa is now benefiting from its relationship with the APC at the center,” Eradiri stated. He highlighted that Governor Diri, through his alliance with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, is helping to usher in long-needed development for Bayelsa, especially in key infrastructure projects that will connect rural and riverside communities to the state capital.
“Governor Diri is in a political pact with us in APC. He is working with us to develop the state, and in return, he will hand over the state to the APC in 2027,” Eradiri added. He expressed confidence that the ongoing infrastructure projects will set the stage for APC to take over leadership in the state in the coming years.
Eradiri called on APC members in Bayelsa to stop criticizing the Diri-led government and recognize the benefits of the partnership. “Bayelsa is no longer in opposition. We are now aligned with the APC at the center, and Governor Diri is working with us. I urge APC members to respect his leadership as he is already collaborating with the APC-led federal government to ensure a smooth transition in 2027—unless he joins us before then,” he concluded.
