“God Will Decide 2027 Elections,” Kaduna Official Tells El-Rufai
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Kaduna State, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has dismissed former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s influence over the 2027 elections, stating that only God can determine the outcome. Mamman Lagos also expressed disapproval of El-Rufai’s recent comments targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.
In a pointed statement during an interview with journalists, Mamman Lagos told El-Rufai to stay out of Kaduna, emphasizing that “God will decide who wins the Governorship and Presidential elections in 2027.” He clarified that the people of Kaduna would make their own choice, free from external interference.
Mamman Lagos also took the opportunity to praise Governor Uba Sani’s administration, highlighting significant improvements across the state. He explained, “Our good and amiable Governor has never interfered with the running of the state in the previous administration. His focus has been on collaborating with fellow lawmakers to pass bills that better the lives of our people.”
He further stressed that Governor Sani had worked hard to reverse unpopular policies from the past administration. “Governor Sani has addressed anti-mass policies, returning confiscated properties, reversing high tuition fees, and reinstating deposed traditional rulers,” he said, citing the progress made in rural development, infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
The Commissioner also rejected El-Rufai’s perceived influence on the 2027 elections. He urged political figures to stop making threats and allow the electorate to decide. “The electorate will decide who they support, and they can rely on Governor Sani’s compassion and dedication to the masses,” he affirmed.
Meanwhile, the 255 councilors of Kaduna State issued their endorsement for Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bid in 2027, affirming that there is no vacancy at the Presidential Villa or the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House. Muhammad Sani Badiko, speaking on behalf of the councilors, praised the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure and development, calling them unprecedented in Kaduna’s history.
“We score the Governor highly in rural development, economic recovery, education, and healthcare,” Badiko said. The councilors pledged their support and vowed to mobilize grassroots backing for Sani’s re-election. They also urged other political actors to put aside differences until after 2031.
This strong endorsement by the councilors further solidified Governor Sani’s standing, and with the rejection of external political interference, it seems clear that his re-election efforts are gaining significant momentum.
