“Wike Rules, Tinubu Defends” – Dele Momodu Rages Over ‘Busybody’ Remark
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and media mogul, Dele Momodu, has come out swinging against President Bola Tinubu for reportedly referring to concerned Nigerians as “busybodies” and “bystanders” in the face of mounting unease over the influence wielded by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during a Channels Television interview on Wednesday, Momodu expressed outrage, accusing Tinubu of disrespecting citizens and enabling what he described as an unofficial “dual presidency.”
Momodu lashed out: “President Tinubu calling Nigerians busybodies and bystanders because of one man called Wike—who himself is a bystander in his own country—is deeply insulting.”
Wike, a prominent figure from the opposition PDP, has drawn public scrutiny for his powerful and often controversial role in Tinubu’s APC-led administration, despite not holding an elected mandate. His perceived overreach in the FCT has stirred accusations of unchecked power.
“Even Tinubu, who’s held Lagos in an iron grip since 1999, has never been as audacious as Wike,” Momodu noted. “Today, it looks like we have two presidents in Nigeria. Wike does what he wants—without limits.”
Momodu didn’t hold back on Tinubu’s rhetoric either: “Calling your own people busybodies? That’s beyond offensive. How can anyone be a bystander in their own country?”
He concluded with a jab at Wike’s theatrics: “And if you were in Wike’s shoes right now, you’d probably dance harder than he did yesterday.”
