“30 Killed in Kebbi Attacks as Deputy Governor Visits Grieving Communities”
At least 30 people have been confirmed dead following brutal attacks on two communities in Kebbi State. Local government chairmen Muhammad Gajere (Zuru LGA) and Hussaini Bena (Danko Wasagu LGA) reported that 16 people were killed in Tadurga, while 14 others lost their lives in Kyebu and Yar-Kuka, located in Waje District.
The tragic events prompted a visit on Friday by Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, who conveyed condolences and reassured the affected communities of the government’s commitment to strengthening security.
During his visit to Tadurga, Senator Tafida, who represented Governor Nasir Idris, extended heartfelt sympathy to the people of Tadurga in Zuru LGA and Kyebu in Danko Wasagu LGA — both part of the Zuru Emirate. He assured residents that the state government would take decisive steps to prevent future attacks, including blocking all known entry points into the vulnerable communities.
The assailants not only took lives but also left many injured and looted livestock and valuables during the coordinated attacks.
“Government is determined to forestall a recurrence,” Tafida said. “We will continue to work with security agencies to secure our people.”
In a bid to provide immediate support, Senator Tafida announced a ₦50 million relief package — ₦25 million each to the communities of Tadurga and Kyebu. He described the donation as a modest gesture to help bereaved families begin to rebuild.
Offering prayers for the deceased, Tafida asked Allah to comfort the bereaved and give them the strength to endure their losses.
The Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleman Dabai, commended the government’s swift intervention and credited Governor Nasir Idris’ leadership with recent improvements in regional security.
Despite ongoing challenges, the Zuru Emirate continues to call for stronger federal and state collaboration to tackle insecurity and protect lives and property in rural areas.
