Tinubu Scores A1 in Politics, F9 in Governance — Prince Adewole Adebayo Blasts Presidency
Prince Adewole Adebayo, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has delivered a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of excelling in political scheming but failing woefully in governance.
In a statement released by his media team, Adebayo likened Tinubu’s leadership scorecard to “A1 in politics, F9 in governance,” claiming the president’s famed political manoeuvring has not translated into meaningful leadership for Nigerians.
“That is the real problem,” Adebayo declared. “He knows how to navigate the political class; he understands their motivations. But unfortunately, he does not understand the needs of the ordinary Nigerian — security, economic stability, and basic services.”
The SDP chieftain lamented the worsening insecurity in states like Benue and Plateau, describing it as a clear sign of leadership failure. He argued that governance — not politics — should have taken centre stage the moment Tinubu was sworn in.
Adebayo also criticised what he described as Tinubu’s weak economic management, alleging that the administration’s primary economic strategy is “the economisation of truth” rather than genuine solutions to Nigeria’s economic woes.
“What we want to do differently in the SDP is to centre politics entirely around the welfare of the people,” Adebayo said. “If we address hunger, healthcare, housing, education, and insecurity, there will be fewer political controversies.”
Turning to the wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adebayo dismissed the trend as a choreographed drama designed to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, many defectors were never true opposition figures but merely stranded politicians “compulsorily retired” into the opposition after losing relevance within the APC.
“When you’re in opposition by choice, it is rooted in principle. But these defections are staged to demoralise the opposition,” he warned. “Nigerians should not be deceived by these theatrics. Until poverty, insecurity, and corruption are genuinely tackled, no amount of political drama will change the reality on ground.”
