Taraba Assembly Dismisses Claims of Deputy Governor’s Imminent Removal

The Taraba State House of Assembly has debunked reports suggesting plans to replace Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali, who is currently receiving medical treatment in Abuja.

Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Nelson Len, made the clarification on Thursday while addressing journalists in Jalingo. He stated categorically that the Assembly has no intention of declaring the deputy governor incapacitated, as has been speculated in some quarters.

According to Len, the deputy governor remains in office and is expected to resume his duties once he has fully recovered. He emphasized that none of the three arms of government in the state has raised or discussed the idea of removing Alkali from office.

“We urge the public to ignore the rumours that the Assembly is planning to declare the deputy governor incapacitated,” Len said. “There is no such move, and all focus remains on supporting his recovery.”

Alkali has been on medical leave since November 2024, sparking concerns over the duration of his absence. However, the Assembly assured citizens that his health remains the priority and efforts are ongoing to ensure his safe return to work.
