No Land Allocation to Wike’s Son, Aide Dispels Viral Claim

Allegations circulating online that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, allocated over 2,000 hectares of prime Abuja land to his son are completely unfounded, according to his media aide, Lere Olayinka.

In a strongly worded statement issued Thursday, Olayinka—who serves as Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media—described the report as a calculated attempt to discredit the minister. He firmly denied that any of Wike’s children had received even a single plot of land from the FCT administration.

“Where in Maitama and Asokoro today would anyone find 2,082 hectares of land to allocate?” Olayinka queried, calling the claim both absurd and ignorant of the realities on ground. He described the report as a recycled attack from individuals whose sole agenda is to malign the minister.

The online article in question cited a Right of Occupancy granted to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited as evidence of wrongdoing. However, Olayinka clarified that the company, a duly registered Nigerian entity, was allocated land in Bwari Area Council strictly for agricultural use—not in the elite districts of Maitama or Asokoro, and not linked to Wike’s family in any way.

He added that while the law permits any Nigerian, including members of Wike’s family, to apply for and own land, no such allocation has been made to any of the minister’s children.

Olayinka went further to challenge the publishers of the report to provide concrete evidence linking Wike’s family to the land in question, warning against the continued spread of misinformation.

“This is yet another desperate effort to provoke public outrage based on lies. It’s unfortunate that some people now specialize in inventing falsehoods to distract from the work being done,” he stated.

The FCT minister’s media aide urged the public to disregard the report entirely, describing it as a deliberate distortion of facts aimed at stirring unnecessary controversy.
