NRC Raises Alarm Over Fake Online Ticket Vendors, Warns Passengers to Use Only Official Booking Platforms

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has raised alarm over the activities of fraudulent websites posing as official platforms for purchasing train tickets online.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, warned that these fake platforms have been deceiving unsuspecting passengers by collecting payments into personal bank accounts, falsely claiming to represent the NRC.

Unyimadu clarified that the corporation has no connection to these unauthorised websites and emphasised that tickets should only be purchased through verified NRC channels.

He urged the public to remain cautious and avoid any interaction with entities not officially approved by the NRC.

“The NRC wishes to categorically state that these platforms are not affiliated with the Corporation and any payment made through such channels is done at the victim’s risk,” the statement read.

“Passengers are strongly advised to desist from engaging with these fraudulent sites and must not, under any circumstances, pay into personal or unverified accounts for train bookings.”

The corporation listed its only authorised online ticketing portals as follows:

• Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS): https://nrc.tps.ng

• Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS): https://nrc.gsds.ng

Travellers are advised to verify the authenticity of any platform through the NRC’s official website — www.nrc.gov.ng — or by contacting its customer service centres.

Unyimadu further assured the public of the corporation’s commitment to passenger safety and satisfaction, adding that the NRC is collaborating with security agencies to track down and prosecute those responsible for the scam.
