ADC to Critics: ‘Stop Dividing Nigeria Along North-South Lines-ADC to Critics

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected accusations that it is advancing a northern political agenda, calling the claims baseless and divisive.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, ADC spokesman and former minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed remarks by ex-presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu as “ridiculous” and urged him to be “ashamed” of spreading such narratives.

“From the start, we have made it clear — ADC is neither a northern nor southern party, neither Muslim nor Christian, neither for the young nor the old,” Abdullahi said. “We are deliberately structured to build the future Nigeria needs.”

Kachikwu had alleged last month that the party, now aligned with the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, was part of a plot to return power to the northern region.

But Abdullahi countered by highlighting the party’s diverse leadership, which includes key figures from the southern region, and accused unnamed government forces of trying to sow division within the coalition.

Joining the discussion, ADC chieftain and former Board of Trustees chairman, Mani Ibrahim, said Kachikwu had no authority to speak for the party.
“Dumebi Kachikwu is not a member of our party and does not represent the ADC. His comments should be ignored,” Ibrahim stated.
