Drama on Uyo–Lagos Flight as Passenger Attacks Crew, Fights Security

A female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos caused a major scene on Sunday after allegedly assaulting a flight attendant and later clashing with airport security at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

The incident, captured in several viral videos on social media, shows the visibly shaken flight attendant saying, “She slapped me.”

Efforts by crew and airport staff to calm the passenger reportedly failed, with one clip showing her being forcibly escorted into a waiting vehicle.

Reacting to the footage, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, urged air travellers to comply with basic safety instructions.

“When cabin crew ask you to turn off your phone before takeoff or landing, simply comply. I cannot understand why simple routine issues would lead to incidents like this,” Achimugu posted on X.

“Passengers need to understand they have responsibilities, not just rights. More details will be addressed tomorrow,” he added.

The airline and relevant authorities are expected to release further information on the incident in the coming days.
