“22 Indigent Inmates Need Help” — NBA Lafia Branch Human Rights Committee Reveals New List from Correctional Service

The Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lafia Branch, has secured the discharge and acquittal of Usman Dahiru, who had been held in prison custody since February 2, 2025, without bail.

Dahiru was arraigned before the Upper Area Court in Obi, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on allegations of criminal defamation and intimidation. After months of legal representation by the committee, the court discharged and acquitted him.

Overwhelmed with joy at regaining his freedom, Dahiru expressed gratitude to the NBA Lafia Human Rights Committee for its diligence in pursuing his case.

Speaking on the development, Mohammed Danjuma,Esq Chairman of the Committee, disclosed that the team recently received a list of 22 indigent inmates from the Nigeria Correctional Service, Doma Road, Lafia, who are in urgent need of free legal assistance.

He advised the freed inmate and others to remain law-abiding and avoid activities that could bring them into conflict with the law.
