Shehu Sani Reacts As Court Fines Lady ₦450,000 For Collecting Transport Money And Not Visiting Man

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has weighed in on a Lagos court case where a young woman, Jennifer, was ordered to pay ₦450,000 for taking money meant for transport and failing to visit the person who sent it.

the case involved a man named Emmanuel, who gave Jennifer ₦30,000 to cover her travel to his home.

After receiving the money, Jennifer reportedly did not show up and cut off communication, leading Emmanuel to report her to the authorities for fraud.

The Magistrate Court found Jennifer guilty of financial deception and exploitation.

The court awarded damages that far exceeded the original transport fare to serve as a warning against similar acts.

Jennifer is now required to pay the ₦450,000, and failure to do so could result in further legal action.

Shehu Sani described the situation as unusual.

The ex-lawmaker questioned the logic behind punishing someone for not “showing up”.

He wrote: “Jailing ladies for collecting transport fare and failing to ‘show up’ is weird. To ‘show up’ for what? Is it Concert?”

In other news, the Leader of House On The Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has stirred fresh debate after telling his congregation that Nigeria was not established by divine plan.

the clergyman explained that the country came into existence to serve the interests of the British rather than its people.

According to him, Nigeria’s name was not of local origin but was given by the girlfriend of a British official during the colonial era when Lord Lugard and other administrators merged the regions.
