PDP Begins Nomination Form Sale On Wednesday

One week after zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set machinery in motion to consolidate its structures across the six geopolitical zones.

According to documents obtained by Nigerian Tribune, the party will this week commence the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms to aspirants seeking national offices.

The exercise, billed to begin on Wednesday, September 3, will be supervised by the Directorate of Finance at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The move is part of the official timetable for the 2025 elective national convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15–16.

Party stakeholders had on August 26 kick-started zonal consultations on issues relating to national offices. Sources who spoke with the above publication said the engagements are intended to ease tensions and prepare the ground for the convention.

However, as of press time, it was unclear if the PDP had resolved the micro-zoning of key national offices following the earlier decision to cede the 2027 presidential ticket to the South.

Under the program, aspirants have until September 26 to return their completed forms to the Directorate of Organisation/Mobilisation, which will forward the list to the screening committee.

The screening exercise for all contestants has been slated for September 30, after which a list of successful candidates will be released and provisional clearance certificates issued.

Party insiders say the process is designed to ensure a rancour-free convention and prevent a repeat of the post-2022 crisis that weakened the PDP in the run-up to the 2023 presidential polls.
