NBA Retains 2025 AGC Committee for 2026 AGC, Introduce Mohammed, SAN as New Chairman — Obegolu SAN to Serve as Consultant

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the retention of key members of the 2025 Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC) for its 68th Annual General Conference, scheduled to take place from August 22 to 29, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In a notable leadership change, Abdul Mohammed, SAN, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the 2026 AGC Planning Committee, replacing Emeka Obegolu, SAN, who served in that capacity for the 2025 AGC. Obegolu will now continue his contribution as a consultant to the committee.

According to the announcement made via the NBA’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, @NigBarAssoc, both Sammie Somiari, SAN, and Barbara Amosun have retained their positions as Co-Chairman and Secretary of the committee, respectively—continuing from their roles in the 2025 AGCPC.

NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, stated that the full list of committee members will be released in due course, as preparations for the Port Harcourt conference intensify.

The decision comes on the heels of the successful 67th Annual General Conference held in Enugu under the theme “Stand Out, Stand Tall”, which attracted over 20,000 delegates and featured conversations on legal reforms, insecurity, and gender inclusion.
