Elections: Imo Police orders strict compliance to IGP’s ban on vehicular movement

The Imo State Police Commissioner, CP, Mohammed Barde has issued strict orders on compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman on all forms of vehicular movement and transportation across the state.

Usman said the directed compliance would be effective from 12 midnight to 6pm on Saturday, February 25, for the presidential and National Assembly polls.

The IGP added that the exemptions are only for duty officers like INEC officials, electoral observers, firefighters and ambulances in medical emergencies.

The PPRO, Henry Okoye in a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri, Imo State said, “The ban on unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, covered plate number and tinted glass is still in force as violators will be made to face the wrath of the law.

DAILY POST learnt that the directives are part of the security measures put in place by the command to guarantee the conduct of a peaceful, secured, free, fair, credible and acceptable election.
