Abba Moro Lauds Watbridge Hotel for Innovating with Guest Pharmacy in Uyo

Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has urged hospitality establishments across Nigeria to give top priority to the security and healthcare of their guests. Moro made the call during the commissioning of the Watbridge Hotel’s guest pharmacy in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, over the recent Yuletide holiday.

Before officially opening the wellness center within the hotel, Moro lauded the initiative, describing it as a groundbreaking approach in the hospitality industry and a meaningful way of contributing to the community. “This is a unique innovation in hospitality,” Moro said, emphasizing its significance in promoting the well-being of both guests and the wider population.

Moro, who represents Benue South, urged the public to take full advantage of the facility, stating, “I’ve been in hotels, even internationally; I’ve never seen a hotel where a pharmacy and library are attached to it. This hotel, aside from providing accommodation, also cares about people’s health, not just the guests, but the general public in Uyo.”

He encouraged other hospitality organizations to follow Watbridge’s example, stressing that the industry must prioritize the security and health of their guests and surrounding communities. “I urge the hospitality sector to innovate and prioritize the security and health of their guests, just like Watbridge Hotel has done,” he said. Moro also called on others with the means to support their communities in similar ways.

Several experts commended Watbridge’s innovation. Prof. Etete Peters, a former Chief Medical Director at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, and Dr. Patrick Eshiet, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health for Akwa Ibom State, praised the hotel for its commitment to health standards and for creating a model facility that benefits the local community.

A lecture on Security and Health was also delivered by CSP Odiko Macdon, former Force spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Akwa Ibom State.

Emmanuel Ntia, Acting General Manager of Watbridge, highlighted the hotel’s commitment to upholding high standards in hospitality. “For six years, Watbridge has been a key player in the hospitality industry in Akwa Ibom State. This hotel is notable for having a guest library, which is rare in our region,” Ntia said. He also pointed out the addition of the pharmacy, underscoring the hotel’s dedication to offering “Spacious, Serene, and Luxurious” accommodations.

The hotel, which also boasts an underground lounge, a luxurious poolside, and a guest library named after Kenyan writer Ngugi Wa Thiongo, has set a new benchmark in the hospitality sector in the state.
