Abductors Demand N250 Million Ransom for Former NYSC DG, General Tsiga’s Release
The abductors of Retired General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release.
General Tsiga was kidnapped on Wednesday night after over 100 gunmen invaded his residence in Katsina State. According to Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, the member representing the Bakori/Danja federal constituency in Katsina, the attackers surrounded the house before breaking down doors. In a bid to confront them, the retired general stepped outside and asked the assailants what they were seeking.
Following the abduction, security agencies initiated a manhunt to locate and free General Tsiga from the kidnappers’ custody. A source close to the family, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, informed Daily Trust that the kidnappers have since contacted the family, demanding N250 million as the price for the general’s release.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, as the abduction of such a prominent figure intensifies concerns about security in the area.
