Abia Commissioner of Police Reactivates 24-Hour Radio Communications for Enhanced Security
The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, has reactivated the State Police Command’s Radio Communications Office to operate 24 hours a day throughout 2025.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Abia Command, Maureen Chinaka, on Friday in Umuahia, the move is aimed at addressing the security needs of residents in the state. The office’s coverage has been expanded to include all regions of Abia to ensure seamless communication across the state.
Chinaka explained that this update included installing necessary equipment and replacing outdated systems to enhance efficiency, enabling better management of directives and prompt responses to security emergencies.
The Commissioner of Police emphasized the critical role the communications department plays in maintaining security and urged the officers to be diligent, proactive, and responsible in carrying out their duties.
In his address, Commissioner Isa instructed that the control room remain operational at all times, with technicians available every day to address any technical issues immediately. He warned officers about the consequences of laxity, indiscipline, and negligence, which would not be tolerated. Officers who fail to promptly respond to radioed directives will face necessary disciplinary actions.
The reactivation of the 24-hour radio communication service is seen as a significant step toward improving security management and responding swiftly to emergencies across Abia.
