Adamawa Police Refute Social Media Claims of Robbery Attack on Governor Fintiri’s Convoy
The Adamawa State Police Command has debunked claims circulating on social media that the convoy of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was attacked by armed robbers in neighboring Taraba State. The Commissioner of Police for Adamawa State, Moris Danwambo, dismissed the reports as both misleading and entirely false.
In a statement issued on Thursday, CP Danwambo clarified the situation, revealing that on December 19, the advance security vehicle in the governor’s convoy encountered a roadblock set up by robbers while returning from Taraba. The advance vehicle, which is a standard procedure for VIP movements, was ahead of the main convoy when it arrived at the scene of the roadblock.
The roadblock had caused other motorists to stop, and vehicles were lined up along the road. However, the security team swiftly responded, chasing away the armed robbers and clearing the road, ensuring the safe continuation of travel for all vehicles in the area.
CP Danwambo praised the actions of the governor’s advance security team, commending their swift and effective response. He also urged social media users to verify facts before sharing information publicly, particularly when it involves sensitive matters.
The police also expressed their gratitude to journalists, both within and outside the state, for their ongoing efforts in public education and peacekeeping.
