Adamu Garba Calls for Dismantling of USAID to Bring Peace to Africa
Adamu Garba, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has suggested that dismantling the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) would lead to unprecedented peace and stability in Africa. Garba argued that such a move would deplete terrorist organizations like Boko Haram, ISWAP, and other armed groups operating in unconventional warfare across the continent by depriving them of arms, ammunition, and reconnaissance support.
This proposal comes after tech billionaire Elon Musk criticized USAID. Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), created during former President Donald Trump’s administration, called the agency a “criminal organization” in a post on his social media platform X, urging its closure.
In response, Garba echoed Musk’s sentiment, urging governors in northern Nigeria to take immediate action by dismantling all non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating within their states. He suggested that such a step would cut off vital support to terrorist groups in the region.
Garba wrote, “Scrapping the operations of USAID will bring unprecedented peace and stability to Africa. Boko Haram, ISWAP, IGIS, JNIM, and all Army Special Operations forces conducting unconventional warfare in African territory will soon run out of arms and ammunition and reconnaissance support.”
He further called on northern Nigerian governors to expel NGOs from their states, claiming that they play a part in sustaining these militant groups.
