AFCON: APC chieftain, Ojuogboh collapses, dies during Super Eagles’ win over South Africa

A former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Ika Federal Constituency in Delta State, Cairo Ojuogboh, has died.

According to Vanguard, Ojuogboh died during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash between Nigeria and South Africa.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is said to have collapsed as Bafana Bafana were awarded a late penalty.

Victor Osimhen thought he had made it 2-0, but VAR called the game back to a foul committed by Yusuf Alhassan in the sequence leading to the goal.

Teboho Mokoena stepped up to make it 1-1, taking the game to extra time.

The fixture eventually ended in a 4-2 penalty shootout victory in favour of the Super Eagles, who will now face hosts Ivory Coast in the final on Sunday.

Ojuogboh was also a former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
