AGF Fagbemi Affirms Commitment To President Tinubu’s Genuine Reform Agenda And Rule Of Law Stance

Mr Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, has emphasized that the reform agenda led by President Bola Tinubu is authentic and designed for the benefit of the nation.

Fagbemi conveyed this assurance during a reception held in his honor by friends and associates in Abuja on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, Fagbemi requested the support of Nigerians in facilitating the realization of President Tinubu’s objectives. He praised the President’s commitment to democratic principles and his track record of effective governance during his tenure as the governor of Lagos State. Fagbemi highlighted the role of support from appointing authorities in enabling the successful execution of government initiatives.

Acknowledging the potential challenges that may arise, Fagbemi expressed his hope for the success of President Tinubu’s reform agenda. He stated, “It cannot be a bed of roses, but I pray that the light will come on brightly, strongly and ceaselessly.”

The AGF expressed gratitude for the support he has received from colleagues since his appointment as Minister of Justice and pledged to uphold their trust in him. He affirmed his determination to succeed and commended the dedication of those who had expressed confidence in him.

Fagbemi also praised the virtues of President Tinubu and noted his belief that the President’s commitment to the rule of law would be maintained due to his democratic values.

During the event, Wale Olanipekun, the chairman of the occasion, lauded President Tinubu’s receptive nature and respect for legal professionals. Olanipekun expressed confidence in AGF Fagbemi’s capabilities to navigate the complexities of his new role and urged him to be reflective, retrospective, and prayerful.

Chief Adegboyega Awomolo and former AGF Akin Olujinmi both offered advice to the AGF. Awomolo encouraged Fagbemi to cultivate unwavering trust in President Tinubu and to remain cautious of the actions of civil servants in the Ministry of Justice. Olujinmi advised Fagbemi to seek divine wisdom in managing relationships between ministers in the Federal Executive Council and lawyers working within various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The event concluded with well-wishes for Fagbemi’s success in office and aspirations for his positive impact on the nation’s legal and governance landscape.
