Ambassador Nurain Mumuni, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on political officeholders and politicians to give President Bola Tinubu the time and opportunity needed to deliver on his campaign promises, rather than prematurely involving him in the 2027 presidential race.
Mumuni’s statement came after a series of meetings held by some politicians speculating about the next presidential election. In a release to journalists by his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, Mumuni emphasized the gravity of Nigeria’s current socio-economic issues, which are affecting millions of citizens.

Mumuni stressed that now is a time for unity and focus on the country’s urgent challenges, rather than diverting attention to future elections. “Politicians must rise above personal ambitions. Nigerians are seeking solutions to the pressing issues of hardship, hunger, and poverty. Now is not the time for campaign rhetoric. It is a time for leadership,” Mumuni said.

The APC chieftain further warned that prematurely starting campaigns for the 2027 election would only distract from the crucial work at hand. Mumuni urged politicians to place national progress first and defer discussions about elections until the country’s current socio-economic issues are adequately addressed.
“Nigerians are yearning for hope and solutions. It’s time to unite and focus on addressing these challenges, instead of getting caught up in 2027 ambitions,” he added.
