APC Criticizes Primate Ayodele’s Prophecy on Adeleke’s Re-election
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church for his prophecy that Governor Ademola Adeleke will secure re-election in 2026. According to the APC, Ayodele’s prediction was politically motivated and biased. The party accused the cleric of using prophecies for personal gain and questioned his credibility, pointing out that many of his past predictions had failed.
In a statement issued by Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, the party lamented that a man of God like Ayodele had chosen to interfere in partisan politics. They also raised concerns about his frequent interactions with political figures, implying that he was commercializing his prophecies. The APC added that Osun politics would not be influenced by prophecies but by the will of the people.
In response to the criticism, Primate Ayodele stood by his prophecy, claiming that it was based on divine revelation. He reminded everyone that he had previously predicted Adeleke’s 2018 victory, despite the legal challenges that delayed his assumption of office, which he argued proved his prophetic credibility. Ayodele also advised Governor Adeleke to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claiming it was divinely anointed to retain power in Osun.
Despite the APC’s condemnation, Ayodele insisted that even if President Bola Tinubu campaigned for the APC in Osun, Adeleke would still emerge victorious in 2026. He also referred to his former friendship with ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, which ended after he predicted Oyetola’s loss in the 2022 election.
The controversy over Ayodele’s prophecy has sparked a heated political debate, with the APC accusing the cleric of attempting to influence public opinion in favor of the current administration.
