APC North Central Issues Stern Warning to Members Attacking Tinubu, Ganduje, Akume

The North Central chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to aggrieved members and political groups to desist from attacking high-ranking party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume.

This warning was made in a statement jointly released on Saturday by the National Vice Chairman of APC North Central, Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, and the Zonal Secretary, Yakubu Adamu.

The party leadership’s caution follows a series of public attacks on President Tinubu and other APC leaders, spearheaded by notable party figures such as former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

Amaechi, in a recent statement, called on Nigerians to defend their mandates in the upcoming 2027 elections, warning that politicians, including the president, would go to extreme lengths, including stealing, maiming, and killing, to retain power.

El-Rufai also criticized his own party, describing it as a “zero-man show,” and encouraged opposition parties to unite to challenge the ruling APC and safeguard democracy.

Additionally, Senator George Akume has faced backlash on social media from some party members in North Central due to his ongoing feud with Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

In response, Rijau emphasized that the APC leadership would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those responsible for the attacks. He stated that the decision to take such action was made during a key meeting of the APC zonal leaders and state chairmen in Abuja on Friday.

The statement from the leadership of APC North Central condemned the actions of the individuals and groups involved, labeling them as “usurpers” and “interlopers” who are using the party’s name to disparage its leaders. The leadership reaffirmed its support for Senator Akume, the APC governors in the zone, and all leaders who have contributed to the party’s growth.

“We make bold to say that these groups are not only unrecognised, they are nothing but usurpers and interlopers,” the statement said. “We are by this statement warning these persons to desist forthwith from any guise to disparage, attack, and insult our leaders. Failure to do so will attract the full weight of the law.”

The APC North Central also expressed its continued support for the National Working Committee led by Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, applauding the leadership for guiding the party, and reaffirmed its loyalty to President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
