APC Warns Against Attacks on North-Central Leaders
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-Central region has issued a strong warning against attacks on party leaders by “faceless groups.” This warning follows recent media attacks on Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), by an unregistered political group from the zone.
In a statement released on Saturday, signed by the National Vice Chairman, North-Central, Mu’azu Rijau, and Zonal Secretary, Yakubu Adamu, the leadership expressed concern over the growing trend of attacks and insults on prominent APC leaders, including Akume, by unrecognized support groups. These groups, the APC said, have been using the party’s name to disparage and undermine the reputations of respected leaders within the zone.
The statement emphasized that only the zonal leadership of the party is authorized to speak on behalf of the party in the North-Central region, and no other individual or group should be allowed to carry out such functions. The APC condemned the unwarranted attacks on Akume, a former governor of Benue State, stressing that these attacks were baseless and sponsored by external forces.
The party reaffirmed its full support for Senator Akume and all five elected governors in the North-Central region, acknowledging their significant contributions to the growth and development of the party.
The statement concluded with a stern warning to the faceless groups, demanding that they immediately cease their attacks or face the consequences, which could include legal action. The leadership of the APC in the North-Central zone made it clear that such actions would no longer be tolerated and would be met with the full force of the law.
