Army rescues abducted Cameron government official, 5 others
Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have achieved significant success in their counter-terrorism operations in the Lake Chad Region. Recently, they rescued Mrs. Gambo Genevieve, Head of Service at the Department of Physical Education in Logone and Chari, Cameroon, along with five others.
The rescue operation was executed after troops deployed in Mora responded to a distress call from locals in the villages of Gangawa and Kangaleri in Gogolom, Division of Mora. Upon arrival, the troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon their abducted victims. The rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical examination.
In a separate operation, MNJTF troops deployed in Sector 3, Mongunu, intercepted a key Boko Haram logistics supplier, Babagana Zaninu, in Gubio. Zaninu was caught with a Toyota pickup loaded with assorted food items, illicit drugs, and other supplies intended for Boko Haram fighters. The items included soft drinks, sugar, flour, and other food supplies.
During interrogation, Zaninu confessed that the items were purchased from the Gubio market and were meant to be delivered to Gazabure Village in Gubio for the terrorists.
These successful operations demonstrate the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to neutralizing terrorist threats in the Lake Chad region and disrupting critical supply lines that sustain their operations ¹.
