Attempt by Kwankwaso to hijack NNPP is a waste of time – Oginni
The National Secretary of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPC), Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday has described the recent news about the purported approval of the change party’s logo, flag and constitution by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) as an exercise in futility.
Oginni, also said the attempt by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasia Movement to hijack the New Nigeria People’s Party in connivance with some INEC officials is dead on arrival, arguing that the plan cannot see the light of day.
He noted that the news about the purported plan to hijack the NNPP by Kwankwaso is now unmasked.
Oginni said, “We are happy to tell all Nigerians that the New Nigeria People’s Party is a law-abiding political party, founded 22 years ago by Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam.
He added that the NNPP believe in the sanctity of the Judiciary, stressing that the party leadership has challenged the illegal convention where the change of logo was illegally proposed, saying “It is our strong belief that the Judiciary will surely do its job speedily without any fear or favour”.
Oginni opined that “the act of impunity by INEC under the watch of Prof. Mamoud Yakubu is condemnable. The approval given by INEC to a group of Kwankwasia parading itself as NNPP is unacceptable. We challenge Prof. Mamoud Yakubu and Kwankwaso to register another political party with their Kwankwasia name and logo with red colours, rather stealing of the intellectual property of the NNPP.
Oginni, therefore called on all NNPP’s members home and abroad and all lovers of democracy to remain calm in the face of these unnecessary provocations by Kwankwaso and his INEC collaborators, with the hope that the judiciary shall once again rise up to the occasion, by setting the record straight as soon as possible.
