Bakori LGA Chairman Dies Two Months After Taking Office
Katsina State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Hon. Aminu Dan Hamidu, Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, who passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, just two months after assuming office.
Hamidu, who took office in April 2025 after winning the local government elections held in February, was reportedly battling an undisclosed illness. While the exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed, sources say he had been unwell for some time.
His passing was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Kaula Mohammed, in an official statement.
Governor Radda expressed deep sorrow, describing the late chairman as “a loyal party man, a seasoned civil servant, and a grassroots politician who devoted his life to public service with honesty, humility, and uncommon dedication.”
“Today, Katsina has lost one of its most committed and selfless sons,” the governor said. “Hon. Hamidu was a quiet achiever who believed in the values of integrity, transparency, and people-first leadership.”
Though his time in office was brief, Radda noted that Hamidu had already made a mark, driven by a strong vision for community development and good governance.
“He was not someone who sought the spotlight. He let his work speak for him,” the governor added. “Even in a short period, he showed what leadership could mean when rooted in sincerity.”
Praying for the peaceful repose of his soul, Governor Radda expressed his condolences to Hamidu’s family, the people of Bakori, and the entire All Progressives Congress (APC) community.
“We will continue to remember him for his modesty, his dedication, and the love he had for his people. May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi,” the statement concluded.
