Benue Police Arrest Mastermind and Native Doctor in Kidnapping Plot
A kidnapping operation was thwarted in Benue State with the arrest of Yaji, the mastermind behind the crime, and Terna Sule, a native doctor accused of preparing charms to fortify the kidnappers. The arrests came after a case of abduction was reported on December 30, 2024, and police launched an investigation into the matter.
Kidnap Operation Foiled: Police Rescue Victim, Arrest Key Suspects
According to Police Public Relations Officer Catherine Anene, the investigation led to the successful rescue of the victim, while key suspects, including Yaji and Sule, were apprehended. Firearms were also recovered during the operation. The police have vowed to continue their pursuit of justice in the case.
Benue Police Uncover Kidnapping Scheme Involving Relative and Witch Doctor
Anene revealed that Teryima, a relative of the victim, was identified as the mastermind behind the kidnapping. Teryima confessed that his motivation for the crime was financial gain, as he sought to extort money from his own family member. Sule, the native doctor, is said to have assisted by providing charms to protect the kidnappers during the operation.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case. Some gang members have already been arrested, and once the investigation is completed, both Yaji and Sule will be charged in court.
