Borno Governor Issues Strong Warning to Farmers and Fishermen in Baga
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has issued a stern warning to farmers and fishing communities in Baga, urging them not to collaborate with Boko Haram insurgents. The governor emphasized that any form of collaboration with insurgents threatens the region’s peace and stability.
Speaking at the palace of the district head in Baga on Wednesday, Governor Zulum expressed his disapproval of such actions, calling them unacceptable and harmful to the ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace in the state.
“I urge the people of Baga and surrounding communities to conduct their farming activities only within areas approved by the military,” he said. Zulum stressed the importance of following guidelines set by the Nigerian military and the state government to ensure security in the region.
While acknowledging the importance of agricultural activities, the governor highlighted that compliance with military regulations is essential for the safety of the people and the continued stability of the state.
Governor Zulum’s visit to Baga follows a tragic attack in Dumba, Kukawa Local Government Area, where members of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) killed 40 farmers.
