CDS salutes troops on Eid El Maulud, hails killing of notorious kingpin
Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has commended the bravery and courage of Nigerian troops in confronting terrorists, bandits, and other security threats.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, Gen. Musa extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid El Maulud, the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birth.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings, emphasizing peace, compassion, tolerance, justice, and service to humanity. These virtues, he said, guide the military’s mission to protect the nation’s territorial integrity and safeguard citizens’ security and well-being.
Gen. Musa specifically praised troops of Operation Fasan Yamma in Zamfara State for their dogged commitment to eliminating notorious bandit leader Haliru Buzu and his followers. He also appreciated the troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri for their role in rescuing flood victims.
The CDS called on troops to redouble their efforts in defending the nation, upholding discipline, loyalty, and integrity, and working in unity with other security agencies to defeat evil forces and restore peace. He urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance, mutual understanding, and respect for constitutional authority to build a prosperous Nigeria.
