Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Enugu State during the 2023 elections, may be considering a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections. This comes after he received a delegation from the PDP, led by the state chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, who visited to encourage him to rejoin the party.
In his response, Edeoga expressed his respect for the delegation and stated that he would take time to consult widely before making a final decision. “I have told them that I will consult; I will consult widely because I’m a product of several men of goodwill,” Edeoga said.
He emphasized that he would reflect on the discussions with the PDP team and share the outcome with them in due course. “It is not even in the nature of the Igbo man to hear such a weighty thing and respond immediately,” he added. “I’m going to take it home and I will as quickly as possible get back to the chairman and my position will be known.”
Edeoga’s potential return to the PDP could significantly influence the political landscape in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 elections.
