Comrade Osita Obi Demands Apology from Fada Ebube Muonso to Governor Soludo

Human rights activist and convener of the Recover Nigeria Project (RNP), Comrade Osita Obi, has once again called on Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, also known as Fada Ebube Muonso, to apologize to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. This comes after a heated exchange between the priest and the governor over the rising tide of kidnappings in the state.

Earlier this year, Obimma had reacted sharply to the kidnap and subsequent release of Rev. Fr. Nonso, accusing Governor Soludo of being a “wicked soul” and a “reprobate,” claiming that he rejoiced when calamities struck the people. Obi condemned the use of such derogatory language against the governor, describing it as highly inappropriate, and gave the priest a one-week ultimatum to issue an apology.

The priest, however, responded with harsh words, even going so far as to pronounce a death sentence on Obi. Despite this, Obi remained undeterred, addressing a press conference in Awka to renew his call for Obimma to apologize.

“It’s been over a week since I initially called for Fada Ebube Muonso to apologize, and I am here again today urging him to do the right thing,” Obi said. “He is like a son to me, and as an elder, I am asking him to show respect to the office of the governor.”

Obi firmly rejected the curse Obimma placed upon him, stating that he was unafraid of death and that such words had no power over him. “The governor is an institution and deserves respect,” he emphasized, adding that the priest’s words were disrespectful and uncalled for.

When asked about the next steps if Obimma refused to apologize, Obi stated, “He should continue criticizing within the boundaries of decency. He has every right to voice his frustrations, but it must be done respectfully. If he refuses, he risks offending the Holy Spirit.”

Obi further reflected on his earlier comments about potentially invading the priest’s prayer center, clarifying that he had spoken out of anger, not with serious intent, and extending an apology for that remark. However, he remained firm in his demand for the priest to apologize for his disparaging words towards the governor.

The activist also voiced his support for Governor Soludo’s efforts to tackle insecurity in the state. “Governor Soludo is making progress, and we need to give him time to implement his policies. No one is funding my support for Soludo; I am driven by my own convictions,” Obi stated.

He urged critics to focus their energies on positive initiatives, such as contributing to the Anambra Security Trust Fund, rather than undermining the governor’s efforts. Obi also dismissed critics who labeled him an “emergency activist,” asserting his long-standing commitment to various social causes, including local government reforms and power sector improvements.
