Dari King’s Daring Rescue: Police Crash Kidnap Plot, Leave Bandits Bleeding
Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have successfully rescued Emmanuel Omanji, the traditional ruler of the Dari community in Kokona Local Government Area, who was kidnapped on the night of Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Police Command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, Omanji was found unharmed and safely recovered around 9 p.m. on June 2, 2025.
The monarch was abducted from his residence following a violent attack by gunmen who fired sporadically in the community during the kidnapping.
The rescue operation culminated in the Panwasa Mountains near Mada Station, where the Command’s Search and Rescue Team tracked and retrieved the traditional ruler after sustained pressure on the kidnappers.
After the rescue, Omanji was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation and has since been reunited with his family.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects who are still at large.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, extended sincere gratitude to members of the public for their timely information and unwavering support, which were vital to the success of the rescue.
He also commended the collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, highlighting their instrumental role in the operation’s success.
