Days After Firing Entire Cabinet, Alia Sends Eight Names To Benue Assembly For Confirmation
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has forwarded the first batch of eight commissioner-nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Tersoo Kula, announced this in a statement issued on Friday in Makurdi, stating that the submission was done in accordance with constitutional provisions.
The development comes just two days after Governor Alia dismissed all 17 commissioners and his Chief of Staff on Wednesday, signaling a major cabinet reshuffle in the state.
The first batch of nominees includes:
- Theresa Odachi
- Dr. Benjamin Ashaver
- Dr. Margaret Adamu
- Dr. Peter Oboh
- Dr. Timothy Yangien
- Mr. Denis Iyaighgba
- Mr. James Dwem
- Dr. Paul Ogwuche
According to Kula, the second batch of commissioner-nominees will be submitted to the House of Assembly within days.
“The governor is committed to ensuring transparency, competence, and inclusivity in the selection of individuals to drive his administration’s vision and mission for the state,” Kula stated.
