“Dogo Gide Defeats Boko Haram’s Sadiku in Deadly Ambush, Claims 20 Casualties”
Notorious bandit leader Dogo Gide has emerged victorious in a violent confrontation with a faction of Boko Haram led by Sadiku. The clash, which unfolded in a remote area, saw Gide’s group successfully overcome Sadiku’s forces, resulting in significant casualties for the latter.
A video circulating online shows Gide proudly displaying the spoils of the battle, including ten AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, mobile phones, and an identification card from a member of the Sadiku faction. Gide, in the video, declared that while his group suffered minimal losses, the Sadiku faction experienced at least 20 casualties.
He condemned Sadiku and his followers for their brutal tactics, accusing them of targeting innocent civilians, including women and children, under the banner of religious extremism.
The conflict between Gide and Sadiku is deeply personal. The animosity was sparked by the tragic killing of Gide’s brother, Sani, by Boko Haram in 2023, which ignited a thirst for revenge in the bandit leader. This vendetta has fueled Gide’s recent military operations, including the dismantling of Boko Haram roadblocks in Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area.
In an effort to restore stability and gain the trust of local communities, Gide has called for forgiveness and urged displaced villagers to return to their homes. However, analysts believe that while his actions may appear to be driven by a desire for peace, they are also linked to strategic motives aimed at consolidating control over criminal enterprises like cattle rustling and kidnapping.
This victory highlights the volatile and ever-changing power dynamics in the region, where alliances are constantly shifting, and criminal groups vie for dominance. The ongoing conflict continues to challenge security forces and threatens the safety of civilians in the North-West.
