DSS Operatives Rescue Four Kidnapped Victims in Sokoto State After Successful Raid
Operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS) have successfully rescued four more victims who had been kidnapped by bandits in Sokoto State. The rescue followed a well-coordinated raid on the bandits’ hideout.
According to Garba Mohammed, Director of Press Affairs at the Deputy Governor’s Office, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N50 million but later reduced it to N10 million.
One of the victims, Malam Umar Dankoli, shared details of the ordeal, explaining that after several days, only one million naira had been raised through community contributions. His eldest son delivered the money to the bandits’ camp in Malafana Bush about nine days ago, but was also taken captive upon arrival. The bandits insisted on a ransom of N10 million for the release of both the father and son.
Malam Umar Dankoli confirmed that they remained in captivity until they were rescued during the joint operation by security forces.
Colonel Abdulhamid Usman (rtd), the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, praised the strong support provided by Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto to security agencies. He noted that in the past eleven days, significant progress had been made in combating banditry in the state.
He also urged the public to continue supplying useful information to security agencies to help sustain the momentum and further combat crime.
