“Ebonyi State in Shock: Fulani Herdsmen Attack Claims Lives in Ishielu”
Francis Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi State, has strongly condemned the horrific attack on the residents of Amagu-Nkalaha in Ishielu Local Government Area, allegedly carried out by Fulani herdsmen. The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, resulted in both loss of life and significant destruction of property, with damages running into millions of Naira.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of this senseless attack on the peaceful people of Nkalaha, which has tragically claimed innocent lives. Such violence shows a total disregard for the value of human life,” Governor Nwifuru expressed.
This attack is not the first of its kind in the area, raising growing concern among both the state government and its citizens. However, the governor reassured the people of Ebonyi that his administration remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, pledging to take decisive action to uncover the perpetrators behind the attack.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru also urged the people of Nkalaha to remain calm and refrain from seeking vengeance, emphasizing that justice would be served.
“Ebonyi people are known for their hospitality and warmth. It is painful to see our peaceful community continually attacked by outsiders. While we remain calm, it is unacceptable for anyone to exploit our generosity to inflict harm,” the Governor added.
To bring the situation under control, Governor Nwifuru has directed the mobilization of security forces to the area. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims, saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Rest assured, the perpetrators will not escape justice, and you will not face this hardship alone.”
