ECNBA Releases Final Guidelines For NBA 2024 Elections: Campaigning Ends July 18, Over 72,000 Members Eligible To Vote
The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has issued its final guidelines to candidates and eligible voters ahead of the 2024 elections for NBA national officers and representatives to the General Council of the Bar. The elections are scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024.
According to the notice released by ECNBA on July 15, a total of 72,071 members are qualified and eligible to vote, having paid their Bar Practicing Fees within the regulated period of January 1 to March 31, 2024. The voters register remains accessible on the ECNBA website for members to verify their details.
Following a verification and clean-up exercise, only 161 entries were corrected in the voters database out of 9,123 correction submissions. Some members with duplicated or unresolved details may not be able to participate until their records are rectified with the Supreme Court enrollment office.
Voter sensitization meetings and an explanatory video have been circulated to educate members on the e-voting process. Test messages with voting credentials were also sent to eligible voters. The ECNBA reminds members to allow messages through by removing “Do Not Disturb” settings and checking email spam folders.
All forms of campaigning by candidates and supporters must cease by midnight on Thursday, July 18. Voting will commence at 12:00 AM on July 20 and close at 11:59 PM the same day. Members are to use the unique voting link and credentials sent to their registered phone number and email to access their ballot and vote.
The ECNBA, chaired by Oluseun Abimbola SAN with Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahim as secretary, wishes all members a successful election. For more voter information and FAQs, members can visit go.ecnba.org.
