Ekaette Akpabio Dismisses Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Sexual Harassment Claims as False
The wife of the Senate President, Mrs. Ekaette Akpabio, has strongly dismissed the allegations of sexual harassment made against her husband, Senator Godswill Akpabio, by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central), calling them false and unfounded.
In a statement to journalists on Friday, Mrs. Akpabio passionately defended her husband’s character, describing him as a disciplined and jovial man who holds deep respect for women. Her remarks came after Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan alleged that her difficulties in the Senate began after she rejected Akpabio’s sexual advances.
Mrs. Akpabio recounted the longstanding cordial relationship between their families, asserting that the allegations were simply a figment of someone’s wild imagination. She also noted that she was present at their family residence on December 8, 2023—the date of the alleged incident—reaffirming the closeness between their families, which predates Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marriage.
Emphasizing her husband’s commitment to supporting women’s inclusion in government long before becoming Senate President, Mrs. Akpabio urged women to avoid making false accusations. She concluded by expressing her intention to seek legal recourse over the matter.
